Fusion Magazine Issue #105 is out now featuring music, visual art and film festival Marfa Myths. This year they host several art exhibitions, workshops, residencies and music performances April 12-15 in the mystical town of Marfa, TX. The phenomenal line-up includes music group Drugdealer, rock band Amen Dunes and the “First Female Synth Hero” Suzanne Ciani to name a few and Fusion will be on-site to cover it so stay tuned!
As of late, El Paso has been a thriving hub for artists facilitating creative spaces to connect, foster and collaborate with other artists. Located in the heart of the Lincoln Park community, thChrch is exactly that—a space where artists as entrepreneurs create and utilize the tools needed to realize their projects. Just a few miles west of thChrch is another creative space, the Outpost, which caters to touring musicians by providing them a sanctuary where they can rest, get sustenance and even rehearse. In this issue we discuss what thChrch and the Outpost are up to.
Creativity and spaces facilitating talent is not limited to El Paso, it’s also happening across the border in our beautiful sister city. We cover ground in Nómada Laboratorio Urbano—a collaborative who focuses on art to help weave a community back together through a series of workshops, projects, interventions and activism. We also highlight the art of Ciudad Juárez artist Oscar Reynaldo and speak with him about his studio and inspirations.
El Paso indie-rock band Gila Monster debuts Up Go The Trolley Cars and we review their alternative-pop infused album in our Local Love column. Our Fusion Gallery highlights neo-pop artist Juan Ornelas who mixes pop-art, bright colors and border culture into his pieces. In this issue we have an in-depth conversation with Omar Macias, owner/operator of Wyze Guyz Tattoo Parlor about his shop, tattoo art and the European tattoo circuit.
