SXN, also known as SoulfulxNature, is a record label with El Paso roots, best known for their unique electronic beats and lively showcases. SXN has recently signed a distribution deal with L.A. based record label and digital distributor Alpha Pup Records.
Alpha Pup Records represents over 80 of the world’s top independent labels, spanning all popular genres of music. From the classic funk and soul of Westbound Records (Funkadelic, Ohio Players) to the psychedelic cosmos of Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint (Thundercat, Kamasi Washington), the Alpha Pup digital repertoire includes some of the most vital albums in independent music history. Now El Paso’s own SXN will be added to the list of independent labels represented by Alpha Pup Records.
SXN was founded in 2015 in Southern California, and they were quick to start organizing showcases in El Paso, TX considering that their co-founder and a majority of their artists at the time were El Paso, TX natives. “After moving to LA and experiencing the beat scene out here I felt a huge urge to share that with my hometown of El Paso, we also wanted to prove that El Paso had their own innovative artists to be proud of,” explained their co-founder Oliver Sevilla. SXN’s roster is composed of many El Paso artists, such as Grammy Award winner Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez, who is well known as the keyboardist and percussionist of The Mars Volta and the drummer for Zechs Marquise. However, for SXN fans he is better known by his electronic music moniker, Eureka The Butcher.
Lopez decided to start working with SXN after finding out about them via twitter and learning about their efforts to grow the beat scene in El Paso. Other El Paso artists from the SXN roster include Frythm, who has been championed by major publications such as Complex UK and Magnetic Magazine, as well as ambient producer Mvnners who has been featured on a multitude of Spotify playlists including official Spotify & Nike playlists.
Some other SXN artists that have helped shape the El Paso beat scene include Amy G. Dala & Ledezma. Although SXN has its roots in El Paso, TX, it truly is a global record label. They have released music by many artists from around the world. Including music by French producer, and IAMDDB collaborator, Diboujone, as well as NYC artist Ninjoi known for his melodic beats and vocals, as well as many other global artists.
