Walk Among Worlds—an installation by Maximo Gonzalez

Maximo Gonzalez’s “Walk Among Worlds”, installation will be at Chalk The Block this weekend October 9th to 11th in Downtown El Paso.

Máximo González was born in Entre Ríos, Argentina (1971). He studied at the Institute of Art Josefina Contte in Corrientes, Argentina, where he obtained a Teaching Degree in Visual Arts.

In 1996 González had his first solo show in Corrientes, Argentina. In 1998 he moved to Córdoba where created Apeyron (a plastic and scenic experimentation research center). From 1999 to 2003 lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

For the past 12 years González lives and works in Mexico City. He has completed 40 solo shows:“POGO,” Hospicio Cabañas Museum, Guadalajara, Mexico; “The Possibility of Everything,” Scotiabank Nuit Blanche, Toronto, Canada; “Take the verse by the flower,” Art Careyes (MX); “Magnificent Warning,” at Stanlee & Rubin Center, El Paso (USA); “Playful,” CAFAM, Los Angeles (USA); “Something Like an Answer to Something,” Artane Gallery, Istanbul (TUR); Project for the Reutilization of Obsolete Vehicles After the Extinction of Petrol,” at Travesía Cuatro Gallery, Madrid (ES); “Project B,” Milano (ITL); “Wait,” at Haydeé Rovirosa Gallery, NY (USA); “Chignahuapan,” at Skestos Gabriele Gallery, Chicago (USA) and Voges Gallery, Frankfurt (DE); “PISAR,” at Ruth Benzacar, Buenos Aires (ARG) and “Greenhouse Effect” at Art&Idea, Mexico City (MX).

He has participated in 127 group exhibitions: “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?”, Poetics of the handmade exhibition at MOCA LA (USA); The Tree: From the Sublime to the Social,” at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Canada; “Fine Line,” at Museo de Las Americas, Denver (USA); “The Lines of the Hand,” at MUAC, Mexico City (MX); “Mexico: Poetry/Politics,” San Francisco State University, San Francisco (USA) and at Nordic Watercolor Museum, Gothenburg, (Sweden); “Tiempo de Sospecha,” Museum of Modern Art, Mexico City (MX).

In 2010 he won Premio Tequila Centenario 2010, Zona MACO, Mexico International Art Fair and he obtained the ArtPrize 2014, Grand Rapids (MI), USA.
