The Hoppy Monk Celebrates Oktoberfest

On September 28 and 29 The Hoppy Monk will be celebrating the German tradition of Oktoberfest in El Paso! They will celebrate everything German specifically beer and food! The festivities start at 5 p.m. on Friday with a traditional tapping of a 200 year old wooden cask. Members of the German Schuhplattler Dance Group from Ft. Bliss will be present performing traditional Oktoberfest dances and other traditions both days. The Hoppy Monk will offer over 20 different types of German beer on draught, $3 Berentzen Apfelkom and Jager, traditional German food to include beer braised bratwurst with sauerkraut, German potato salad, schnitzel, and rouladen.

Girls and guests with Oktoberfest-themed costumes get free admission. There is a $5 entrance fee for all others. Live music starts at 5 p.m. on both days and commemorative ceramic steins will be available for $10. Their parking lot will be fenced off to accommodate a large celebration. Tents will be up in the patio and parking lot so the weather will not be an issue. Free parking will be available next door at the Mesa Inn.
