Ribo Flavin’ CD Release Party at Tricky Falls | Photo Gallery

Ribo Flavin’

Ribo Flavins’ highly anticipated CD release party for Full Circle was held at Tricky Falls on June 27. Starting up the festivities were local DJ’s and superstars System A and Rob Bass. Although the bigger crowd was not there yet, Great Shapes took to the stage and had them  going with their happy Indie beats. The crowd started filling into the venue and the anticipation was high in the air as local reggae band Steady Shakedown played their set. Following the lead of Singer Randy Vega, the crowd was grooving and the venue got hot, literally. Vega joked about the heat by calling his band Sweaty Shakedown, it would only get hotter once Ribo Flavin hit the stage. With a total of seventeen band members  the stage looked packed. A variety of instruments filled every bit of stage including trumpets, saxophones, cello, and even a violin. Not all seventeen played at the same time, however, but they all got their fair share of play time as the band went from jazz, funk, cabaret to hip hop with afro beat inspired horns throughout their whole set. In their first song “Full Circle” Jay “Rebel Agnostic” Gomez Jr. sings “I don’t waste my time trying to say something that’s clever” yet that’s what all the singers do–they rhyme their flow so slick and smartly that they hook you immediately. You can find the self-released album on Spotify and iTunes.
