The origin of the nickname is a play on words: Toki means rabbit in Korean and Monsta is short for monster, which she attributes her personality to—a beautiful and delicate mammal with an aggressive and dark counterpart. Her work follows the same concept.
Electronic music is taken to another dimension on her turntables. The base on which her music is set is on elegant chill-house, where you’ll find R&B melodies, hip-hop beats and electronic sounds that give you the sensation of an organic environment—as if it were a living thing, with beats and movements. TOKiMONSTA definitely knows exactly what she wants to convey with each of her tracks.
After signing with Brainfeeder (Flying Lotus) and Ultra (Above & Beyond), two of the most recognized record labels in the business, creating three albums (Midnight Menu, Half Shadows, and the most recent Desiderium) as well as a number of EP’s and singles.

Esta diminuta fémina pareciera estar dispuesta a inundar el mundo con sus exquisitas melodías e impresionantes sonidos y lo mejor de todo, es que lo está logrando. Originaria de Los Ángeles, California y con ascendencia coreana Jennifer Lee tiene las herramientas y el talento para posicionarse como una de las productoras y Dj´s más prometedoras de la industria bajo el peculiar nombre TOKiMONSTA.
El origen de su seudónimo es un juego de palabras, Toki significa Conejo en coreano y Monsta es una abreviación de Monstruo, según ella le representa su personalidad, por una parte linda y delicada como el pequeño mamífero pero con una contraparte agresiva y oscura. Su trabajo, se rige con estas mismas ideas.
La música electrónica toma otra dimensión en sus tornamesas. Entre las bases de un elegante Chill House puedes encontrar melodías de R&B, beats al puro estilo Hip Hop y sonidos, que sí bien son electrónicos, te dan la sensación de ambientes que rayan en lo orgánico, como si se tratara de algo viviente, con pulsaciones y movimientos, definitivamente Lee, sabe lo que quiere transmitir con cada uno de sus tracks.
