The holiday season has begun and with it comes a city bus full of Santa Clauses trying to get to their destinations. Our new issue brings the best of our border and in this edition we highlight Look Daggers, the latest project of former Mars Volta keyboardist Ikey Owens and emerging hip-hop artist 2Mex. We also highlight 1914, the famous downtown nightclub in El Paso who celebrates 8 years in business! In literature, we present Operacion Tarde de Cuervos, the first novel by Chihuahaun writer Luke Valdez. In music, our staff presents their favorite albums of 2013! In art, we present Tino + Virgo, Mexican painters who now reside and operate out of the United States. This issue’s Lost & Found changes its dynamic by interviewing the legendary founder of El Paso’s Club 101 Joe Dorgan. We continue with the theme of music and present the electronic sounds of Lúcio de Souza e Silva from Brazil.
In this edition we speak with Adal Gutierrez, co-founder of Project Paz, a project that seeks to help our beloved Ciudad Juárez in a purposeful way. We also speak with Andrew Joseph, a talented photographer who decided to stay in his hometown of El Paso to start his own business. Also featured is the Chihuahuan band ET who just premiered their new EP and it sounds so good we haven’t removed it from our office stereo… and lastly our Fusion Gallery features the work of Exeivier, the talented artist who illustrated our great Christmas cover! Ya comenzó la temporada navideña y con ella un camión urbano lleno de Santa Clauses, tratando de llegar a sus destinos. Nuestra nueva edición #67 con lo mejor de nuestra frontera, en esta edición tenemos la mas reciente banda del tecladista de Mars Volta: Ikey Owens con su nuevo proyecto Look Daggers. En literatura tenemos la novela Operación Tarde de Cuervos, primera novela del escritor Chihuahuense Lucas Valdez. En música tenemos los mejores discos del 2013 según el staff de Fusion Mag, en arte tenemos a Tino + Virgo pintores mexicanos radicados en EUA, poseedores de una gran plástica. En Lost & Found cambiamos la dinámica y tuvimos la oportunidad de entrevistar a Joe Dorgan fundador del mítico bar: Club 101, y para seguir con la música traemos una propuesta diferente con Lúcio de Souza Silva y su Claridad electrónica desde Brasil.
Poniéndonos más serios y políticos hablamos un poco con Adal Gutierrez acerca de Project Paz, Unidos por la Paz, un proyecto que busca ayudar a Juárez de una manera propositiva.
