Alternative rock band Nothing (facebook.com/BANDOFNOTHING) played Friday May 30, 2014 at The Safehouse– a brand new DIY (Do It Yourself) venue in Northeast El Paso, TX. The band has been on tour for a month in support of their new album and they recently announced a second show in El Paso scheduled in July at Tricky Falls with Ceremony (facebook.com/ceremony).

The show was great and many people showed up despite the change of venue just days before the show. As I see, the DIY local scene has been growing during the past months. It is getting support from different venues, local bands and I have seen different and new faces over the last shows I’ve been to. It’s awesome to see everyone working together hard to keep the scene and the art alive on the border. Local performances for the evening were: Hallows (facebook.com/hallowstx), a post rock band, with melodic and progressive songs. Collisions (facebook.com/CollisionsTX), one of my favorite post rock bands from El Paso and Communion of Thieves (facebook.com/pages/Communion-of-Thieves/150111081711829), a blackened crust punk band that just got back from their tour and played a last minute set to open the show. Below is a photo documentation of the show.
